Oscar Undergoes Knee Surgery

oscar surgeryOur favorite hound is taking a few weeks off his greeting duties to tend to a wounded knee that underwent surgery this past weekend.

Oscar has the puppy equivalent of a torn ACL, most likely caused by over-exerting himself on squirrel chases through Audubon Park.

While sad about being out of the office, doctors promise that his knee will be as good as new within a few weeks.

Who’s the Boss?

As most of our clients and friends are aware, Wolfe Law Group is a dog-friendly office and Oscar, our 3-year old French Bulldog, runs the show.

Today, Oscar (and the rest of us) was featured in the USAToday.com slideshow “Pets Go To Work.” Check it out.

Recently we’ve invited our employees to bring their own pets to the office. Oscar is now joined in the New Orleans office by Sam (the 2 yr old Bichon Frise of WLG clerk Seth) and Betsey Rue (building tenant Express Lien‘s 3 month old French Bulldog).

Oscar: Law Firm Document Security Officer

Here at Wolfe Law Group we’re a little obsessed (okay, maybe more than a little) with Oscar. Oscar loves shredding things for us – FedEx envelopes, paper, boxes especially. Oscar shreds these things like it’s his job. We thought we might make a little video to share Oscar’s enthusiasm for these things with you.

Creatures in the Office? Dog Friendly Policy at Wolfe Law Group

woscarThe USA Today published a story this morning about workplace dog policies, estimating that 20% of U.S. companies has dog-friendly work policies. The article, titled “Dogs Allowed: Creature Comforts At The Workplace” discusses common parameters of dog-policies in the workplace and highlights the positive effects of having such policies:

Supporters say pets in the workplace reduce stress among owners who worry about home-alone dogs, are a calming presence for even the non-owners and help employees form relationships. And in these times of disappearing benefits, pet-friendly policies are a free perk. Companies with such policies range from edgy Newport Beach, Calif., cosmetics company Urban Decay to Healthwise, the Boise-based non-profit health information provider.

As most of our clients and friends are aware, Wolfe Law Group is a dog-friendly office with the cornerstone presence of Oscar, a 3-year old French Bulldog. It’s of little doubt that Oscar contributes to Wolfe Law Group’s work environment, recognized in 2008 as a Best Place to Work by New Orleans City Business magazine.

In addition to helping morale, Oscar inspires a portion of the firm’s charity. As an example, in 2008 the firm turned its ordinary coffee purchases into an opportunity to help the humane societies of Louisiana and Washington.
