“This firm has always been ahead of the technology curve,” says Doug Reiser, member of Wolfe Law Group.  “And to stay that way, we’re required to change as fast as the technology.  These new websites are more than a different design, they function better, and allow our firm to connect with clients, colleagues, and the public.”

Wolfe Law Named A Best Place To Work

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

Wolfe Law Group, a construction law firm with offices in New Orleans, LA and Seattle, WA, was recognized by New Orleans City Business Magazine as a 2008 Best Place to Work.

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WolfeLaw.Com) December 17, 2008 — New Orleans City Business Magazine has recognized Wolfe Law Group as one of its 2008 Best Places to Work.  Practicing exclusively in the are of construction law, the firm has offices in Seattle, WA and New Orleans, LA.

You can find a write-up about the Wolfe Law Group workplace in this week’s issue of New Orleans’ City Business Magazine. The firm was recognized at a special luncheon on December 15, 2008.

While nearly 50 companies were recognized, Wolfe Law Group was ranked 2nd among small companies.

The article discusses some of the ways our firm uses technology to telecommute, reduce paper and waste, and manage the “little frustrations” that comes with operating a law office.

Wolfe Law Group runs on Macs and iPhones and has a decidedly “Web 2.0″ approach to the office.  People work from home, from the field and from everywhere in between.  This provides a feeling of dynamism and efficiency that appeals to the staff.

Scott Wolfe, founding member of the firm, is quoted as saying:  “Lost of offices can be stuffy and bureaucratic.  This is a profession that involves a lot of paper.  It can be a mill of little frustrations and delays.  And we’ve eliminated paper, we’ve eliminated a lot of those little delays.”

You can read the article by downloaded the issue from City Business in PDF Format here: [Best Places to Work].

Wolfe Law Group Files Federal Lawsuit to Say: Blogging Is Speaking

Monday, November 24th, 2008

free

Wolfe Law Group announces that it filed suit in federal court to challenge the constitutionality of Louisiana’s new rules governing lawyer advertising.   The suit argues that the new rules unconstitutionally restrict an attorney’s right to speak freely on the Internet.

NEW ORLEANS, LA (PRWEB.Com) November 24, 2008 — This morning, Wolfe Law Group, L.L.C. filed a suit in federal court challenging the constitutionality of Louisiana’s new rules governing lawyer advertising.

The lawsuit seeks to prevent the enforcement of Louisiana’s new advertising rules, scheduled to take effect on April 1, 2009. The Louisiana advertising rules are some of the most aggressive in the nation, and Wolfe Law Group’s suit argues that the rules go too far and restrict an attorney’s right to freely speak about its trade.

Wolfe Law Group argues that the new rules effectively prevent a lawyer from advertising its services through online media, such as Google’s Adwords, as the rules also restrict an attorney’s ability to engage in discourse with colleagues, clients and the public through online bulletin boards, blogs, twitter, and other online communities and forums.

The law firm that practices in the area of construction law out of its offices in New Orleans, Louisiana and Seattle, Washington, is actively engaged in the Internet marketplace, posting daily on sites like wolfelaw.com, Twitter, Facebook, Avvo.com, and similar web 2.0 services.

The suit argues that Louisiana’s new advertising rules would subject each of the firm’s posts to an “evaluation” by the Louisiana State Bar Association, with an evaluation fee of $175.00.

According to a letter sent to Wolfe Law Group’s colleagues and clients, “the new rules would stifle our firm’s ability to continue talking with you about the legal profession, the construction industry and the evolution of construction law across the nation.”

To continue commenting upon the progress of the action, the firm launched a blog titled “Blogging is Speaking,” at the web address http://www.protectspeech.com.

The lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court of the Eastern District of Louisiana, Case No. 08-4994, Section F, Magistrate 2.

Day Spent Volunteering with Habitat for Humanity

Friday, April 11th, 2008

As part of its Community Initiative, Wolfe Law Group spent an April day with the New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity, helping construct a New Orleans home with the Bench & Bar Project.

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WolfeLaw) April 11, 2008 — As part of its Community Initiative, Wolfe Law Group closed its doors on Friday, April 11, 2008, and spent the day volunteering with the New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity.

Swinging hammers at a traditional New Orleans shotgun single on Eagle Street in-between uptown and mid-city, members of the firm spent the day helping construct Cherie LeBlanc’s future home. The home and project was featured on Bravo’s Make Me A Supermodel.

The 3525 Eagle Street project is part of the United States Eastern District Court’s Bench & Bar Project, whereby attorneys, judges and other members of the legal community come together to build the home. The project is organized to coincide with Jimmy & Rosealynn Carter’s Work Project.

The organized “Volunteer Day” is part of Wolfe Law Group’s Community Initiative.  Each month, the firm takes off work for one Friday to volunteer with the local community.

The Community Initiative was started in December 2007, when we closed the office to wrap Christmas gifts for low income children through Seattle’s Forgotten Childrens’ Fund.

Buying Coffee Turns Into Opportunity to Help Pets

Sunday, March 16th, 2008

The expense of coffee within a law office is almost an afterthought, but Wolfe Law Group is happy to announce that it has found a creative way to give back to its communities by simply doing what it does throughout the day: drink coffee.

Wolfe Law Group’s offices in Louisiana and Washington now purchase all coffee from the Pacific Northwest Company, Specialty Roast. For every 1 pound of coffee purchased, $2.00 is donated to a non-profit organization of your choice.

A company like Wolfe Law Group, who consumes approximately 300-400 pounds of coffee each year, will donate more than $600-800 to its cause using money that’s already in the budget.

In Louisiana, Wolfe Law Group’s donations are going to the Louisiana SPCA. In Washington, donations go to the King County SPCA.

“This is really a no-brainer,” says Scott Wolfe, founding partner of Wolfe Law Group. “As soon as I heard about Specialty Roast’s business model, I knew that we had to involve it. We spend money on coffee regardless of where its purchased. The Specialty Roast coffee tastes great, its delivered to our door steps and its donating part of the price to charity.”

The choice of the SPCA non-profit is in part thanks to Wolfe Law Group’s office french bulldog, Oscar. In fact, every bag of coffee delivered from Specialty Roast has an image of Oscar on its label. To increase the amount of coffee purchased each year, the firm also plans on ordering large quantities of coffee to distribute to colleagues and clients.

“Everyone drinks coffee, and would appreciate the gift” says Emily Bull, public relations manager at the firm. “Plus, it will introduce that person to Specialty Roast, who may in turn set up an account and start contributing to another non-profit with money already built into their budget.”

Oscar, a French Bulldog, is an office pet for Wolfe Law Group. He travels from New Orleans to Seattle spending time in both offices, and is a friend to vendors and clients. The Wolfe Law Group Oscar Photo Album can be viewed below:
