Sharing Information… Saving Trees

Business question

In our continuing efforts to practice green business WLG put many of its written materials online. Clients, colleagues and friends can find legal guides, articles and pleadings authored by our attorneys on JDSupra and Scribd.

We are happy to announce that we are now one step closer to being a paperless practice with the digital publication of promotional materials. Check us out on Issuu and view or download our latest WLG prospectus. Thanks to the time and money saved in publishing online we were able to produce marketing materials specific to each office – for the first time ever!

Happy Earth Day!

earthinhandsToday, April 22, 2009, marks the 39th anniversary of Earth Day– an occassion founded by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson to inspire awareness and appreciation for the environment, celebrate the gains we have made and create new visions to accelerate environmental progress, according to earthday.gov.

As we enter the Green Boom, green law and green business are hot topics and just about everyone is trying to figure out a way to jump on the Green bandwagon – WLG included.

Our commitment to Going Green is going strong and we are proud of our own green efforts. Since our conception in 2005 WLG has committed significant time and resources to both practicing green business and sharing our knowledge of green business with others.

In the past 4 years WLG has enacted an ever-evolving Green Initiative that now encompasses:

  • All legal pleadings, letters and documents are printed on recycled paper made with at least 30% post-consumer materials.
  • All trashed paper is shredded and recycled;
  • The firm is committed to running a paperless office;
  • All offices have a standing no-plastics policy, and all water for clients and employees is poured from Britta pitchers into reusable glasses;
  • All offices use energy efficient lighting;
  • Business Cards, Promotional Printings and more are purchased from vendors who have environmental friendly packaging and practices;
  • Coffee is purchased from vendors who have environmentally friendly packaging and practices;

In April 2009 WLG renewed its commitment to green business practices by launching lagreenlaw.com, a green building law blog helping the contractors and lawyers of Louisiana by providing information and resources pertaining to green building news and practices. We are very excited with the results and we look forward to launching green building blogs for new states in the coming months.

We encourage you to join in our commitment to Go Green and wish you all a Happy Earth Day!

Wolfe Law Group's Enviornmental Protection Efforts

earthinhandsOctober 2008- Wolfe Law Group, a paperless office aims to reduce its negative effects on the environment. Shred- it, the world’s leading on site document destruction company serves the recycling needs of the two offices in Seattle and New Orleans.

Recycled paper is re-used to create more paper or paper products which in turn saves millions of trees. With the help of Shred- It, Wolfe Law Group has saved four trees and hopes to increase that number in the future.

Wolfe Law Group’s office administrator, Jessica Hunter states, “It is our social responsibility to take a proactive stance on how to lessen our office’s daily environmental impact.” Some tips on how your company can help the environment include:

1.)Think before you print! Does this document need to be printed? If so, can it be printed on already used paper or can it printed as a double sided document?

2.) Have recycling bins readily available to your employees and some information posted in a common area about the types of items that are considered recyclable materials.

3.) Cut down on the junk mail you receive at your office. Two new organizations, 41Pounds.org and Greendimes.com, will contact direct marketers and other companies on your behalf and have them remove your name from mailing lists.

Get motivated and Go Green!

We encourage our clients and business partners to learn more about our fragile planet, and to join in our commitment to do our part.

“Its the small things that really make a difference,” says Scott Wolfe, founding partner of Wolfe Law Group. “And it’s easy to use recycled paper instead of regular paper, water pitchers instead of water bottles, and more. In fact, these conservative practices are frequently even economical.”
